Find yourself inspired in an afternoon of creating in the expressive medium of alcohol inks.
Our Art in the Garden Series continues with “Blossoming” – an Alcohol Ink Florals workshop!
Our next Alcohol Inks workshop will focus on florals! What a perfect way to enjoy the beauty of North Haven Gardens by creating your own flowers with Alcohol Ink.
For those new to the medium, Alcohol Ink is a highly pigmented dye that is an alcohol-based. Once applied to a non-porous surface like ceramic tile or plastic paper, they’re manipulated using isopropyl alcohol. Because of this, there are a variety of techniques that are unique to this unusual, expressive medium, that yields beautiful results! No drawing ability is required!
This time, you will learn how to use a variety of techniques to create beautiful floral paintings such as hydrangeas, irises, mums, and poppies. We will use simple tools such as q-tips, drinking straws, paint brushes and cotton pads to create our floral paintings and to highlight the diversity of this medium. Because of the chemical make-up of the inks, “surprises” sometimes happen that utilize the unique properties of alcohol ink allowing you to add interesting design elements unavailable with other mediums. After class, you will take home 4 to 5 finished, original pieces and you will have learned more about the amazing capabilities of Alcohol Ink.
$95. All supplies are included. Gloves are provided. An apron is recommended and not included. To have the best in one-on-one instruction, our workshop is limited to 15 attendees. Arrive early to be best prepared. Come earlier for a snack and glass of wine from our Cafe before you create, and we’ll see you in the classroom. Our workshop begins promptly at 1:30pm.
