Vincent Van Gogh’s Self-Portraits – Livestream Tour

July 22 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm EDT

Vincent Van Gogh Self-Portraits – Livestream Tour. Hosted by Robert Kelleman – Washington, DC History & Culture.

We invite you to join us for an online/virtual tour of Vincent Van Gogh’s iconic self-portraits – every one of them!

There are thirty-six surviving self-portraits painted by Vincent Van Gogh. In addition, there are three portraits of Vincent painted by other artists plus one photographic portrait.

Therefore, almost everything else we know about his appearance comes from the many self-portraits he painted. They tell us that he had red hair, green eyes and an angular face. Yet each of those faces is different. Vincent himself wrote:

‘People say – and I’m quite willing to believe it – that it’s difficult to know oneself – but it’s not easy to paint oneself either.’

Let’s review all thirty-six of Vincent’s painted self-portraits, plus the other four portraits, and see what we can learn about his life and career.
