Vegetables & Herbs for the Fall Season

October 7 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm CDT

Join Carol from the Collin Country Master Gardeners Association on a discovery of veggies and herbs that do well in the Texas Fall season!

Fall is the best season to plant a vegetable garden in North Texas. In North Texas spring planting is often delayed by wet or cold weather and then plants are exposed to too-hot weather before they mature. Generally in the fall, the weather is not as unpredictable and rainfall is more plentiful. Variety selection is important because early maturing varieties yield a bountiful harvest before cold weather arrives.

In this presentation, we’ll discuss these top ten vegetable garden tips:

  1. Garden Site
  2. Raised Beds
  3. Planting Depth
  4. Amend the Soil
  5. Mulch
  6. Fertilize
  7. Spend Time in the Garden
  8. Harvest Regularly
  9. Protect Plants
  10. Grow from Seed
